The film follows high school senior Addison Schacht (Ansel Elgort) as he investigates the senseless murder of his friend Kevin (Jared Kemp). Although the police seem determined to write off the deadly shooting as a gang crime, Addison is determined to uncover the truth and sets about finding the real killer, with the help of his girlfriend Phoebe (Chloë Moretz).
