Doctors cut up a patient and put him back together. Over it all hangs a sign: Please don't scream! Cold humour as a critique of hospital conditions.
This isn't an isolated example among Alice Guy's films. The Usefulness of X-Rays (1898) and At the Hypnotist's (1898) fall into the same category. The films are framed in vaudeville humour; only the subject is original as corresponds to her innovative style.
