Lupin

Omar Sy is one of those actors who can charm you with just a smile, making you want to hand over your wallet and let him buy whatever he wants. But in Lupin, that charm finally hit a wall for me. Despite his best efforts, the modern take on Lupin just didn't do it for me. I was hoping for a fresh, contemporary detective story with a self-styled hero, but instead, it was packed with clichés. I managed to get through the first season, but I couldn't finish the second. It just didn't hold up. As a casual watch, it's fine, but don't expect anything groundbreaking. The quality of TV shows has come a long way, and Lupin just doesn't quite measure up. (16/10/2023)

Netflix is starting this year quite promisingly with the adaptation of the legendary thief Lupin, brilliantly portrayed by Omar Sy. The opening heist at the Louvre is absolutely perfect, and it's a bit disappointing that the series doesn't stick to that style. Instead, it focuses on investigation and pursuit of the truth. But as a crime drama, it works decently well. Omar Sy brilliantly outsmarts the police and handles everything with ease. The show is fast-paced, entertaining, and smart. There are allegedly two more episodes to come, which are currently unavailable, so hopefully they will be released soon.
