Home Before Dark

Let me start off easy—if you liked Stranger Things, you’ll probably enjoy Home Before Dark. Brooklynn Prince might be a little too smart for her age, but by the end of the first episode, you’ll be rooting for her and her passion for solving mysteries. The creators did a great job crafting a series that blends a child’s perspective with a real murder case and an unsolved mystery from the past, making it a crime drama filtered through the lens of childhood imagination. The setting—a seemingly ordinary small American town—adds to the charm. Sure, you could argue that ten episodes is a bit much, but overall, I was satisfied with the story. The slightly open-ended finale leaves room for more, which is fine since a second season is already confirmed. Between the inventive plot, the atmosphere of the town, and the kids' adventures, this show is a hidden gem on Apple TV. It was a real pleasure to watch, and honestly, I didn’t expect it to be this good. (02/04/2021)
