Nekrotronic

Roache-Turner e eu nunca nos daremos bem. O que ele acha engraçado e fixe, eu acho pouco engraçado e infantilmente estúpido. Do ponto de vista técnico, ótimo. Mas poderia ser possível, duma outra forma, fazer um filme engraçado e que valesse pelo menos a pena, a partir deste assunto? Nem mesmo Edgar Wright conseguiria fazer isso, evitando a colagem barata e de mau gosto de Turner de todo o tipo de inspirações de género. [Sitges FF] (06/10/2018)

O conceito de caçadores de demónios que operam através da rede Internet para seguirem a moda e atacar pessoas através dos seus telemóveis não soa mal por si só. Mas não deveria assumir a forma de uma mistura de filmes B (embora um com um orçamento aparentemente decente e truques relativamente de alta qualidade) que se inspira em tudo, desde Os Caça-Fantasmas a Pokemon Go e se instala num mundo sem regras, onde praticamente tudo pode acontecer, mas raramente o suficiente para ser verdadeiramente divertido, engraçado, ou suspense. Os personagens são irritantes, os atores são medíocres e os diálogos resultam artificiais. Aqui e ali uma boa ideia de direção pode ser agradável, mas infelizmente não tem hipótese de superar a impressão geral de uma produção bastante frágil. (07/10/2018)

Many praised debut of the brothers Roache-Turner didn't sit well with me at all. Wyrmwood bored me extremely and annoyed me with its disgusting low-budget CGI gore. I understand that the creators worked with a small budget, but I simply can't stand modern low-budget splatter horror films because of those repulsive CGI effects. However, this brotherly duo slightly improved their reputation with me with Nekrotronic. The film clearly cost more money, and even though the visuals are still heavily computerized, they managed to make it acceptable for me. But what is the main improvement in their second feature film is definitely a more sophisticated and significantly more interesting story. While Wyrmwood is considered a mixture of Mad Max and Dawn of the Dead, Nekrotronic can be seen as a mix of Ghostbusters and Constantine. This time, unlike Wyrmwood, it's more of a pure horror comedy with several really cool moments and successful ideas, which made me enjoy those 99 minutes quite a bit. It's not a masterpiece, but it will certainly find its fans, although I think fans of Wyrmwood will be somewhat disappointed by Nekrotronic at the very least. An entertaining nonsense film worth watching once. (05/10/2018)
