El Patrón de saída (2016) (S02E08)

inglês Another great episode with no unnecessary slowdowns. The atmosphere was fantastic, with plenty of tension and action. However, the creators really annoyed me with one part. If I understand correctly, the police are supposed to put someone in protective custody to keep them safe. Yet, the idea of escorting Escobar's wife through the entire hotel to personally view the murder scene seemed plain stupid to me. ()

A nossa quinta (2016) (S02E09)

inglês Much like in episode seven, I wasn't thrilled with the slower pace. Instead of the Lufthansa escapades, the creators gave us a heavy dose of Colombian farming and nature poetry, which felt completely out of place in this series. For the first time while watching Narcos, I felt a hint of boredom. ()

Caiu, por fim (2016) (S02E10)

inglês Not even the finale managed to earn that fifth star. The carefully built-up tension just didn't hit as hard this time, especially knowing Escobar's fate in advance. On the bright side, I appreciated the inserted documentary footage and photos, highlighting the effort the creators put into casting actors who closely resemble their real-life counterparts (except for Agent Murphy). ()

Season 3 (2017) (S03)

inglês Season 3 was the weakest one so far in my view. It wasn't bad, though. The biggest problem is that the creators had me overhyped with the previous two seasons. Despite their best effort, they couldn't match their previous work. The Cali cartel bosses lacked Escobar's charisma, and a similar thing happened concerning the DEA team. Don’t get me wrong, Javier Peña was alright, but it just wasn’t the same without Murphy. I didn’t get hooked on the story this time as much as I did in the previous seasons, although I still enjoyed it. ()

A estratégia do cabecilha (2017) (S03E01)

inglês Definitely the weakest start of all three seasons, but I still can't rate it below four stars. Javier Peña's brooding presence was too entertaining. The absence of Pablo Escobar is really noticeable; even though the Cali cartel is run by a quartet of "bad boys," none of them have the charisma to match Escobar. I'm curious to see how Jorge Salcedo's character develops — there's some hidden potential there. 4*- ()

A KGB de Cali (2017) (S03E02)

inglês The plot stayed on par with the first episode. While it didn’t blow me away, I was never bored. As I mentioned before, the show really misses a charismatic villain like Escobar. Fortunately, it looks like my hopes for Jorge Salcedo’s character won’t be disappointed. 4*- ()

Segue o dinheiro (2017) (S03E03)

inglês The intro on money laundering was both intriguing and amusing. I was also pleased to see that corruption within the Colombian police is still rampant, promising more entertainment ahead. The ending hinted that the next episode might be more action-packed, so I’m hopeful. 4*- ()

Xeque-mate (2017) (S03E04)

inglês Finally! For the first time in season three, the episode had great atmosphere, a solid dose of tension, and some action. I especially loved the use of documentary footage at the end. I’m eagerly anticipating what comes next. ()

MRO (2017) (S03E05)

inglês Sure, the previous episode had more action, but episode five is clearly setting the stage for some upcoming fireworks, and it does so in a very intriguing way. Paranoia is spreading among the Cali cartel leaders after Gilberto’s imprisonment, and the DEA is honing in on Franklin Jurado. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together in the next episode. ()

Os melhores planos (2017) (S03E06)

inglês I was looking forward to some intense action, and I wasn’t disappointed. The previous episode set the stage, and episode six delivered the goods. It’s clear Jorge Salcedo is in trouble — David Rodríguez’s suspicious looks say it all. Everything else is getting more tangled. The action was solid again, though the club shootout was a bit chaotic. ()

Sem saída (2017) (S03E07)

inglês Episode seven is definitely one of the better ones. The pre-credits scene in the church set the perfect tone, and the rest kept me entertained. The cartel rivalries are heating up, and tensions between the Rodríguez brothers add another layer of intrigue. There was plenty of suspense and solid action, but I just couldn’t give it five stars because of that bathroom scene. Last-second rescues are so overdone, I was hoping filmmakers and showrunners would steer clear of them by now. ()

Convivir (2017) (S03E08)

inglês This episode felt a bit uneven. I was definitely more intrigued by Salcedo navigating the minefield than by the rescue mission for Christina. Still, I enjoyed it overall. There was some interesting action and plenty of tension in Salcedo’s storyline, so I was pretty satisfied. ()

Todos os homens do presidente (2017) (S03E09)

inglês Episode nine kept a great pace throughout, delivering plenty of tense moments and well-executed action. I was just a bit disappointed that I didn't get to see Henao putting together that opening puzzle. I really enjoy how this show balances optimistic moments with total despair. ()

Voltar para Cali (2017) (S03E10)

inglês The season finale didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I was expecting a wholesome conclusion, but instead got a low-fat version. It wasn’t bad, just not particularly impressive. Pacho once again dominated the pre-credits sequence, but the rest of the episode couldn’t keep up with the strong start. ()
