Família (S02E08)

The ending was a bit disappointing. Sure, the plot moved back to Kaer Morhen, so viewers got to enjoy this Witcher stronghold for a while, but the script didn’t convince me much. Apart from Geralt, everyone else is portrayed as a bunch of inept people. Witchers die like it’s a conveyor belt (?), and there are quite a few illogical decisions. The storyline with Ciri did a lot to redeem it, and the ending with the Wild Hunt was very promising for the third season. If they build the main storyline around that, we might have something to look forward to. And the Elves were fantastic :) For me, it’s 7/10. (22/12/2021)

Decent dramatic finale with a fine final battle, but with an awkward main villain and odd motivations. Obviously, some viewers expected a different outcome of the story – the political one, but that will probably be (maybe?) in the third season, if there is one, given the very lukewarm reactions to this season. Any semblance of the book adaptation is completely lost, and if Professor Sapkowski truly approves of this series, well, he's either gone senile or struck an incredible deal. My bet is on the latter. The plot made absolutely no sense to me. It seemed like the creators were more focused on showcasing their CGI creatures than actually telling a coherent story. The big revelation of his imperial majesty's identity would've only shocked me if I'd never touched The Witcher books. (31/01/2022)
