Manhattan (2014)

inglês I was excited about watching the series, but that's hardly a surprise as I enjoy retro vibes. It was interesting how different the two seasons were. While the first one dealt mainly with the development of the atomic bomb, the second season focused more on espionage. The series is also a reminder that although the United States has always promoted the idea of democracy, the playing field is hardly level. The atmosphere, the plot, and the performances were of a high standard. I had a great time. ()

Season 1 (2014) (S01)

inglês The first season was excellent. The plot totally drew me in, the setting was depressing, the atmosphere was unsettling to the point of suffocating, filled to the brim with paranoia. With films or series like this, I always realize how great it is that the United States is and always will be the hub of global democracy. That is unless you happen to be a woman, a black person, an Indian, or a person with an opinion. The cast was perfect, especially David Harbour and Peter Stormare. ()

You Always Hurt the One You Love (2014) (S01E01)

inglês The first episode looks more than promising. The desert setting is harsh, and the atmosphere is tense, filled with pervasive paranoia about espionage and the fear of those in the know. Plus, I discovered that David Harbour is in the series, which is definitely good news. I'm expecting great things from the upcoming episodes. ()

The Prisoner's Dilemma (2014) (S01E02)

inglês Just as good as the first episode, maintaining that perfect, claustrophobic atmosphere where the characters slog through their depressing lives. It really makes you see your own life in a much brighter light. After watching two episodes back-to-back, I almost feel like I have sand grinding between my teeth. ()

The Hive (2014) (S01E03)

inglês The atmosphere keeps getting tenser; the scientific complex now feels like a full-on prison, and the paranoia is peaking. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. The script maintains its high quality, as do the performances. The plot continues to unfold nicely, and I’m eagerly looking forward to what's next. ()

Last Reasoning of Kings (2014) (S01E04)

inglês Interesting, we're already four episodes in, and this show hasn't lost its touch. It continues to maintain its appeal and that wonderfully tense atmosphere. The performances are top-notch. ()

A New Approach to Nuclear Cosmology (2014) (S01E05)

inglês Uh-oh, we’ve hit a snag. The plot slowed down a bit, getting too caught up with Glen Babbit's alleged espionage case, which felt a bit off to me. The worst part is that this episode failed to maintain the gripping atmosphere that I've been praising all along. ()

Acceptable Limits (2014) (S01E06)

inglês The show is back to being excellent, just in a different way. This time, the atmosphere didn’t feel as tense, even though maybe it should have. I couldn’t help but find something oddly funny about Fritz’s personal tragedy, and I found myself laughing a few times, despite the fact that this was probably the most disturbing episode yet. ()

Season 2 (2015) (S02)

inglês I’m giving the second season five stars despite two major shortcomings. I wish that the creators had handled the finale better. They seemed to have used up all their inventiveness on the ninth episode. Overall, the series worked really well. Thankfully, the writing managed to keep the high standard of the first season for the most part. ()

Damnatio Memoriae (2015) (S02E01)

inglês Season two kicks off with an episode that reminded me a lot of The Americans, packed with espionage activities. The show continues to build on the strong foundation set by the first season, maintaining its high level of atmosphere, plot, and performances. ()

Fatherland (2015) (S02E02)

inglês The second episode would have definitely appealed to Franz Kafka. Everything is connected, and nothing is as it seems. The plot is absolutely gripping, especially the scenes set in "Guantanamo," which are particularly intense. This time, paranoia takes on a whole new dimension, and I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. ()

The Threshold (2015) (S02E03)

inglês I have nothing to criticize; I was thoroughly entertained the entire time. The atmosphere remains wonderfully tense, the plot continues to be gripping, and the acting is top-notch. William L. Petersen is clearly relishing his role as Colonel Emmett Darrow. ()

Overlord (2015) (S02E04)

inglês The weakest episode so far. Oppenheimer continues to act like an opium addict, and the whole episode felt like filler between episodes 3 and 5. ()

The World of Tomorrow (2015) (S02E05)

inglês Better than the previous episode, but it feels like the series is losing its edge. The story hasn't drawn me in, and I'm hoping it will recapture that magic in the upcoming ones. ()

Brooklyn (2015) (S02E09)

inglês An absolutely gripping episode. Everything is clearly building up to a big finale, and it doesn’t hold back along the way. The atmosphere, tension, and script are spot on, and the ending blew me away. I feel for anyone who had to wait a week to see the resolution. ()

Jupiter (2015) (S02E10)

inglês I was so excited, but what a letdown. The previous episode had me thrilled, but the finale felt like a stab in the back. It was full of dialogue and melodrama, with zero atmosphere. The only thing I liked about the last episode was the storm; they really nailed that. ()
