Lissi und der wilde Kaiser

Thank you to Michael Herbig for a reckoning with the Good Old Days. I love that instead of Ludwig II, I can safely place this film alongside the Marischka trilogy. Franz! (06/02/2009)

After Manitou's Shoe comes another offbeat comedy "parodying the unparodyable". At its core, it's a pretty puerile film, coming across as the ultimate modernized fairy tale, which at times doesn't make a good impression. On the other hand, there are some pretty good jokes and banter. I'd rather not talk about the animation (it had a lot of room for improvement), but since I've always liked exaggerated and goofy movies, I'll raise from the originally intended 2* to 3* (55%).
