Doc Martin

The creators went a bit overboard with the main character this time. An operation in an ambulance? Sure, I can buy that. But while it's speeding down the road? Come on, they could've at least had it pull over for a minute. That said, Doctor Martin was as entertaining as ever. His no-nonsense, unempathetic approach to patients is always a delight, and his analysis of a kiss was pure genius. It’s these moments that really make the show enjoyable. (25/01/2018)

I'm giving the second season four stars in the end, even though I had a number of issues concerning each episode. The biggest problem was that the creators forgot about humor at times, and the plot was getting boring in places. I don't know what went wrong. Some episodes were good quality. I even enjoyed moments when humor was downplayed in favor of drama, I only had a problem with the episodes that had nothing to offer. (01/03/2018)

In the first episode of the second season, Doctor Martin is just as charmingly grumpy as ever. I loved seeing Katherine Parkinson join the cast as the new assistant/secretary/receptionist. The everyday lives of ordinary people in a quaint English town continue to be reliably entertaining. (30/01/2018)

This episode had me laughing right from the opening credits and kept me entertained until the very end. Doctor Martin was in top form, showcasing his uniquely charming and empathetic personality that I've come to adore. I was missing the usual humor. The creators opted for a more serious tone, which I think is a pity because I primarily watch the show for its comedic charm. Sure, there were a few funny moments, but I've come to expect a lighter, more cheerful vibe from the series. (06/02/2018)

Episode 4 didn’t have me laughing as much as usual. Doc Martin was surprisingly restrained, not unintentionally offending his patients like he typically does. However, the mix-up between alcoholism and diabetes was quite entertaining. I actually know someone who experienced something similar firsthand! (13/02/2018)

Like the previous episode, this one lacked the usual dose of humor, but it made up for it with a stronger storyline. When I tune into Doc Martin, I'm mostly here for the dry humor. While this episode didn't serve it up as generously as usual, the dramatic storyline more than made up for it. It added new depth to the titular character and provided plenty of explanations. For a lighthearted series, this was a surprisingly solid episode. (15/02/2018)

I gave this episode three stars, but it was close to being just two. It started off pretty well, and I thought I was in for a good laugh. However, the humor took an unexpected break, leading to an excursion into the wilderness. I found myself alternating between boredom and frustration with the illogical behavior of the characters. I enjoyed this episode much more than the previous one. The romantic subplot rehashed familiar territory, making me lean towards a 3+ rating. But then came Doc Martin's final rhetorical flourish, and I ended up settling on four stars. (22/02/2018)

I decided to give this double episode four stars because it kept me entertained overall, especially in the second half. However, the incredibly illogical behavior of all the characters during the robbery or kidnapping (or whatever that was) really bothered me. Season 3 was surprisingly great. I'm saying 'surprisingly' because I expected a gradual decline in quality, especially concerning the humor and the writing. I was wrong, the creators handled the humor very well, and added tension and quality drama to some episodes as a bonus, so I was mostly having a great time. (27/03/2018)

A hilarious episode. I was entertained by the doctor, Pauline, and her substitute, and it reaffirmed my suspicion that dishwashers can be life-threatening. Once again, I found myself chuckling at the romantic moments with the doctor. He sure knows how to end a conversation. (08/03/2018)

Episode 3 was pretty entertaining. The doctor was in top shape, dealing with idiots brilliantly. Honestly, if I had to face that "alternative" family, I'd have lost my cool. He only insulted Louisa three times (if I counted correctly), which makes me worry — maybe the doc is starting to soften up a bit. (13/03/2018)

The theme was excellent, and Aunt Joan, who usually serves as Martin's rock, was funnier than ever. It's strange, but like the doctor, I can't get that image out of my head. Unfortunately. And, as if that wasn't enough, Martin once again demonstrated his unique way of breaking bad news with unparalleled empathy. (15/03/2018)

I had a great time. Once again, Doc Martin got plenty of opportunities to shine, not just as a doctor but also as a romantic. While he embodies professionalism in his medical role (minus his aversion to blood), he's a total amateur when it comes to romance. I can't help but picture a bull in a china shop every time he tries to play the romantic hero. (20/03/2018)

The creators gave this episode a classic English countryside detective twist, and it surprisingly worked well for me. I was a bit worried about how Martin's behavior might change in romantic matters, but luckily, he stayed true to his character. He couldn’t help himself, which didn’t disappoint. A strong finale. I almost gave it five stars, but many situations were a bit too predictable. Still, the doctor had plenty of moments to showcase his wonderfully quirky personality. The episode was filled with humor, making it impossible not to enjoy. (27/03/2018)

Even though I consider Season 4 the weakest one so far, I'm giving it four stars. I guess it’s because of my slightly sentimental approach to the series, which means I probably overrated some of the episodes. Oh well.
