Les Fugitifs

I love the scene when Pierre Richard's little daughter sits next to the injured Gérard Depardieu and takes care of him. It's amusing and incredibly moving thanks to the background of beautiful music. Francis Veber skillfully alternates "family" scenes with perfect lines, creating one of the most versatile French spectacles in the 80s style. (30/03/2006)

A great comedy, which you'll appreciate all the more if you've seen the woeful American remake. Richard and Depardieu meet a total of three times and each time it was worth it. But the biggest star of this film for me is not those two, but the deranged veterinarian as he treats Depardieu. (21/04/2003)

The Fugitives is such a beautiful film, like so many that came out of France in the 70s and 80s. It brought a flood of emotions into my living room—joy, sadness, and the warmth of friendship. These kinds of heartfelt experiences are impossible to forget, and that's exactly why films like this will always hold a special place in my heart. (14/06/2012)

Pierre Richard and Gérard Depardieu are a proven duo and under the direction of Francis Veber, it becomes another solid film. Entertaining and touching with good pacing. Although I expected more humor (I'm Shy, But I'll Heal remains undefeated), it still looks nice even after all these years. 7.5/10. (26/04/2021)

Another comedy extravaganza by Francis Veber, or Everything is Great with Pierre Richard and Gérard Depardieu the Third Time Around. Try to keep your diaphragm still and don't burst out laughing during the initial bank robbery, the visit to the vet, the inconspicuous walk down the street, the visit to the drunken doctor... Just try it. No matter how miserable I am, I just can't do it. (20/08/2014)

The great chemistry of the Richard-Depardieu duo plus an imaginative script, a well-chosen runtime and the well-written character of little Jeanne make The Fugitives a classic French comedy that I always enjoy watching again. (02/06/2012)
