Jaakko é cego e está preso a uma cadeira de rodas. Ele ama Sirpa, embora estejam distantes um do outro. Os dois nunca se encontraram pessoalmente, mas se falam todos os dias por telefone. Quando Sirpa é afetada por acontecimentos inesperados, Jaakko decide visitá-la imediatamente, apesar de sua condição. Para isso, ele precisa confiar na ajuda de cinco pessoas, no trajeto de cinco lugares diferentes: de casa até o táxi, do táxi até a estação, da estação até o trem, do trem até o táxi e, finalmente, do táxi até Sirpa. The Blind Man Who Did Not Want to See Titanic reliably evokes emotions in the viewer, because a subject in which bad things happen to a severely disabled person probably cannot be treated without emotional impact. In that respect, the film is a bit of a tear-jerker, which makes me not entirely like it. But for the first, entertaining and better than expected half, I'll give it a fourth star. (56th KVIFF)

Another delightful gem from Scandinavia. It's a refreshingly original drama—funny, sharp in its dialogue, and visually creative. You can tell it’s something different just from the title alone. At a tight 80 minutes, the film finds beauty in simplicity and keeps you engaged with its unique approach. While I’m holding back from giving it a full five stars, it’s one of those films that makes you appreciate that less is more.
